For Families

What We Do Best

Therapeutic Support

We provide compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic support for children, young people, and their families navigating a wide range of challenges, including:

  • Behavioural and social difficulties
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and grief
  • Family separation and domestic violence
  • Low self-esteem and self-regulation difficulties
  • School refusal
  • Mental health concerns related to chronic illness

As a neuro-affirming practice, we specialise in supporting neurodivergent children, young adults, and their caregivers. Our approach is grounded in respect, acceptance, and individual strengths.

Every child and family is unique, which is why we offer tailored therapy, education, and advocacy designed to meet your specific needs and goals.

Play Therapy

Play therapy supports children’s mental health through the natural language of play. It helps them express feelings, build skills, and process experiences in a way that feels safe and familiar.

At NCPT we generally use a non-directive approach, letting children lead at their own pace. When needed, we include directive techniques to support specific goals. This flexible method is grounded in child development research and tailored to each child’s needs.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people process and heal from difficult or traumatic experiences.

It uses back-and-forth movements—like eye movements or tapping—to support the brain’s natural healing process. EMDR can reduce distress, change how memories are stored, and help people feel more in control of their emotions.

Counselling for all ages

Our office includes therapy spaces designed for older children, teenagers, and adults. Teenage clients still have access to engaging resources and activities to help them feel at ease and build a strong, comfortable connection with their therapist.

Do you feel comfortable here? Or would you like to see if you can arrange your own therapy to line up with your child’s? No problem, just ask which of our therapists also work with adult clients.

Private and NDIS Group Activity Sessions

After school and weekend group activity sessions are now available and facilitated by a qualified support worker from Delaney Disability Support who are dedicated to providing inclusive group activities for adult and adolescent private and NDIS participants. These programs are designed to promote creativity, life skills, problem-solving, communication, imagination, immersion in the arts, and connections within the community. Enquiries, class schedules and bookings can be made directly through the Delaney Disability Support website here.

Circle of Security Workshops

The Circle of Security – Parenting is a framework that helps strengthen the caregiver-child bond by balancing safety with exploration. It guides caregivers in meeting their child’s emotional needs, fostering secure attachments and healthy growth.

We also offer the Circle of Security – Classrooms, designed to help teachers support young children’s emotional well-being in the classroom.

Parent Support Sessions

These sessions are perfect if you’re unsure about the type of support your child or teen needs or if you feel you need some help but aren’t ready for long-term support.

During the session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss what’s happening in your family, receive practical strategies to use right away, and get advice on how to move forward. This may include tips on communicating with the school, referrals to other services, and more.

Our fees can vary based on therapist and appointment type.

Generally, you can expect to pay $150 to $200 for a 1-hour appointment block.

We accept Self and Plan Managed NDIS funding.
